A little about our ingredients…
Anyone can say they use the ‘finest ingredients’, so here’s a little more information to prove it’s not just spin. We really have spent years refining our ingredients and suppliers to ensure our Christmas Pudding is truly memorable:

Ale and Brandy
Ale and Brandy: Arguably the most important ingredients when it comes to the flavour of a fine Christmas Pudding! The sweetness of the Port in Hanlon’s Port Stout, and the delicate flavour of the Somerset Cider Brandy, are a delightful combination.
Rich & soft
Vine fruits
There are a lot of cheap imports available these days, but of course you still get what you pay for, so we go for the best, such as Californian raisins which are sun-dried on the vine. During drying, the sun produces intense ground temperatures which caramelise the sugars in the grapes enough to give California Raisins their distinctive rich flavour and dark blue-black colour. These high quality fruits are rich in flavour and soft in texture, without the grittiness of cheaper counterparts.

Glace Cherries
Our glace cherries are coloured with fruit juices and as a result have a deep burgundy colour and soft texture that blends beautifully with the rest of the pudding during the maturation process. A far cry from the cheap and nasty, bright red ones!

Breadcrumbs
We make all our breadcrumbs by hand, using fresh bread from the Crusty Cob bakery just a couple of miles down the road from us. They use none of the ‘extras’ you’ll find in a lot of modern bread – just flour, water, yeast and salt!

Fresh fruit
Our apples are UK Bramleys, and we buy our carrots from a local greengrocer. Our orange and lemon is all freshly squeezed and zested by a local company and is not from concentrate.

Californian raisins (sunflower oil), sultanas, breadcrumbs* (WHEAT flour, water, yeast, salt), carrots, vegetable suet (certified sustainable palm oil, sunflower oil, WHEAT flour), demerara sugar, golden syrup, free-range EGG, Hanlons Port Stout (5%) (BARLEY), UK Bramley apples, 10-year-old Somerset Cider Brandy (4%), glace cherries (glucose fructose syrup, sugar), ground ALMONDS, orange juice, lemon juice, chopped ALMONDS, WHEAT flour (contains raising agents), orange zest, lemon zest, spices. *Our breadcrumbs are made in an artisan bakery that also handles soya, mixed nuts, milk, cereals, celery, mustard and sesame.
